“Shapagat” charity foundation
“Shapagat” charity foundation On February 1, 2016 AlmaU students of the 1st course of the specialty "Account and Audit" under supervision of the teachers of the "Kazakh and Russian Languages" department Tairova Nazgul Abayevna and Imanberdiyeva Saule Kurmanbayevna visited the orphanage # 1 in Almaty on voluntary basis.
Our first experience of volunteering. Expectation and reality.
It was the first experience of volunteering for all of us, we worried very much about: how children would meet us; whether we would cope with our duties and, in general, how everything would go about the meeting. As soon as we stepped into the orphanage, the first thing we saw was a lovely and cozy room. We were pleasantly surprised and started to feel comfortable there. A 16-years-old boy called Dima, who was very open and positive, approached us at once. He asked about our university and our specialty. Once he heard that we study in AlmaU, he said he would like to study there. We were really delighted! Then we went to a class. There were a few children: some were on study, others were having their dancing classes, so we decided not to get divided into subgroups, but to make pizza and salads together!
We thought that children in orphanages aren't adapted for life at all, and they cannot cook. It turned out that children cook better, than us! There are cookery courses in the orphanage where children learn to cook various dishes – it made our work faster.
At first we and the children were reserved and shy, but then during the process of cooking we began to joke and in the end all of us cheered up! We prepared 3 types of salads, and 6 pizzas of 3 types. Everything was very delicious! We discussed our first experience visiting the orphanage with classmates for a long time. We came to a conclusion that even if they live in good conditions there (they are full, well dressed), a child should live in a family. He should be protected not only by law, but also by love and care of his parents. It is not right to have many orphanages full of children in our peaceful time! Nevertheless I don't regret that I went there and that we spent the whole day in that orphanage. We promised children to come back, and I will definitely keep my promise!
